Middle School Softball - Season Opener

Robert Merideth, a first-time softball coach, led the Lady Knights Middle School softball team to a large victory. On March 12, 2024, at 4:30 P.M., the Christian Heritage Academy Softball team set out for their first game of the regular season against Lucy Addison Middle School. Within the first inning of the game, CHA had an impressive lead with a staggering nine runs. With the final score being 26-0, a couple of players on the team contributed greatly to this blowout game. Kensly Wilson grade seven, had an outstanding pitching streak. She pitched three scoreless innings to secure the win for CHA. Lani Meridith, grade eight, was four for four with a triple, two walks, and scored 5 runs. Rose Dalton, in grade seven, was two for two with two walks, a home run, and 4 runs scored. Lastly, to be recognized is fifth grader Kennedy Floyd, who hit a three-run homer. All the CHA lady knights softball girls had an amazing game. The team has ten more games in the regular season. They hope to continue to have outstanding games, resulting in victory.
2023-24 Spring Sports

Christian Heritage Academy Knights kicked off their spring athletic season on Tuesday, February 20th. CHA’s five spring athletic teams consist of middle school and varsity baseball, middle school girl’s soccer, middle school softball, and middle school and varsity track and field.
CHA’s middle school baseball team has a new head coach, Wallace Chitwood, while Scottie Manning will coach the CHA varsity baseball team again this year.
Jennifer Overstreet will be the head coach again for this spring’s Middle School Girls Soccer team. Last spring was the first year in many that CHA fielded a declared girls' soccer team, and Overstreet led them to win the VACA State Championship. We are excited to see what this season has in store for this team.
This will be the third season that CHA has fielded a softball team. This year’s head coach is CHA Bible teacher and Rocky Mount Church of God Pastor Rob Meredith.
Todd King will once again coach the Track Team. CHA’s track team has been incredibly successful over the past few years, winning several VACA State Championship titles for the Middle School Boys and Middle School and Varsity Girls teams.
F.L. Slough, the new Athletic Director at CHA, said, “Spring sports are always an exciting time to begin, with greener grass, longer days, and warmer weather. I'm eager to see our teams in action.”
CHA Basketball Coach, John Turner, Steps Down at Season's End

Head Basketball Coach Stepping Down at CHA
Rocky Mount, VA – Feb 1, 2024
Christian Heritage Academy basketball coach John Turner is stepping down after two years as Knights head varsity coach. Coach Turner’s new responsibilities at his full-time job will not allow him the time commitment to run the basketball program.
“My fellow Knights, it is with a heavy heart that I announce I will be stepping down at the end of the season as head boys basketball coach at CHA. The memories and relationships I have made in my time here at CHA will be with me always. This decision was not easy, but the time commitment to be a head coach is demanding. Taking into account advancement in my career and my desire to see both of my daughters compete in their athletic events has placed a constraint on my availability. Once again, thank you all for your time and commitment to CHA athletics.”
“We appreciate Coach Turner for all the time and energy he poured into our basketball program and our athletes,” comments F.L. Slough, Director of Athletics. “We look forward to the plans that God has in store for our basketball program.”
John, his wife, Jennifer, and their children live in Rocky Mount and plan to return as a CHA family for the upcoming school year.
The search for a new head basketball coach will begin immediately. The athletic department hopes to have a new head coach in place as soon as possible in preparation for the next basketball season.
