Community

Christian Heritage Academy is located in Franklin County in south central Virginia. The county is primarily rural, with the local economy based on small farms, local businesses, and a few manufacturing industries. Our student body consists largely of families from this socio-economic group. Because of economic constraints inherent to this area, many of our graduates choose to attend community college for at least one year before transferring to a four-year institution.

Curriculum

Our academic program is based on a standard yearlong system with seven 53-minute periods for classes and one 40-minute period for lunch. The maximum course load is seven (7) credits per year. We currently offer two diploma tracks: the standard high school diploma, which requires 24 credits; and the advanced diploma, which requires 26 credits and must include four credits each in math and science, three credits in foreign language, and one credit in Advanced English.

Christian Heritage Academy Online (CHAO) Program

Christian Heritage Academy Online opens doors to new opportunities for parents and students by offering a greater level of flexibility in Christian education. The program offers biblically integrated courses for all grades, elective courses for middle and high school, and dual enrollment college credits. Students who wish to explore the flexibility of this approach while pursuing their high school diploma may also pursue options for more than 10 different Associate Degrees.

Grading System

Christian Heritage Academy uses a 10-point grading system with the following breakdown:

100 A+ 87-89 B+ 77-79 C+ 69-67 D+ < 60 F
94-99 A 83-86 B 73-76 C 63-66 D
90-93 A- 80-82 B- 70-72 C- 60-62 D-

Ranking

Students are ranked according to GPA within their class years.

GPA Calculation

A student's GPA is calculated using a 4.0 scale, with honors courses adding up to an extra half-point. Final grades are submitted at the end of the school year, at which time they are recorded on a student’s transcript and the grade point average is calculated.

PSAT, SAT, ACT Testing 10 – 12

At Christian Heritage Academy, our commitment to preparing each student for college includes offering PSAT testing to 10th grade students and SAT/ACT testing to 11th and 12th grade students. Our faculty is devoted to each student performing well on these tests and often offers test prep classes to any student who may be interested.
