In the seeming blink of an eye, one of the fall sports seasons at Christian Heritage Academy (CHA) has finished. And finished with a bang, at that.
Varsity volleyball (2-10) finished off its season with a 3-1 (25-8, 22-25, 25-13, 25-12) home victory against Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy (SMLCA) Oct. 3, officially knocking off the Ospreys for the season sweep.
The Knights started off hot in the first game and didn’t let off the pedal at all for the first game, 25-8 victory behind the exploits of freshman Emily Ann Jones, who stroked six hits with two kills, along with an impressive nine aces in the game.
A hiccup in the second game led CHA to win the next two, as Mary Atkins rendered SMLCA unable to return anything over the net. Her glorious third game included an 18 serve streak, with an impeccable nine aces. The freshman had no mercy.
Then, to seal the deal, Jones had herself a solid fourth game with five aces and a dig, with freshman Savannah Novak helping her out with two kills on five hits and two tips.
