CHA is pleased to welcome Zack Mayhew, the new elementary physical education (PE) and high school boys’ health and PE teacher.
“We’re blessed to have Zack join our team. He’s an answered prayer and we’re excited to see him pour his passion for fitness into our PE program,” said Tony Quist, Head of School.
Zack has a degree in Exercise Science from Liberty University and is American College of Sports Medicine Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSMC – EP). He has worked as a personal trainer at Liberty University and at the Carilion Wellness Clinic in Roanoke.
“Inspiring and motivating today’s youth to participate in more physical activity and being more mindful of overall health is vital to changing the direction this country is heading. I’m excited for the opportunity to work with all the students at CHA through their Health and PE curriculums,” said Mr. Mayhew.
To ensure that an elementary PE program was available to students this year, CHA’s volleyball coach Christy Williams originally accepted the elementary PE position. She graciously stepped aside when Mr. Mayhew came aboard to fulfill the duties of the position. Coach Williams will continue to coach the Middle and Upper School volleyball teams.
“Christy has been amazing and she definitely stepped in when we had a significant need with elementary PE. She has a lot to offer CHA. I look forward to her continued investments as a parent, Volleyball coach, and any other roles the Lord may have planned for her here in the future,” said Mr. Quist.
