Rocky Mount, VA (August 3, 2017) – Christian Heritage Academy (CHA) is pleased to announce that students will have the opportunity to take part in its newly established Equestrian Club starting this fall.
As the new Head of School, Tony Quist quickly worked to develop a partnership with Stargazer Farms to enable an Equestrian Club at CHA. This addition comes under the 2016-2021 strategic plan known as “Resolving for Excellence & Truth,” which partly aims to expand CHA’s program by offering students new extracurricular opportunities.
“Partnering with Stargazer Farms enables us to provide our students with a very unique learning opportunity. Lord willing, this equestrian club is just the beginning of these types of partnerships here in our local community. We’re always looking for partners in our mission.” said Tony Quist, Head of School.
Stargazer Farms is conveniently located next door to CHA’s campus. The facility boasts a beautiful 52 acres with both flat meadows and wooded hills providing for varied riding terrains. Club participants will have the opportunity to ride horses and learn all aspects of horse care.
“We are extremely excited to partner with CHA to offer an equestrian club!” said Nicole Marts, owner of Stargazer Farms. “No matter if a student is an experienced rider or completely new to riding, all are welcome.”
Participants will learn a balanced English position with an emphasis towards eventing, following U.S. Pony Club standards. Pony Club is the largest equestrian educational organization in the world. The cornerstones of the foundation are education, safety, sportsmanship, stewardship and fun.
Further, Equestrian Club participants will also be offered the opportunity to take regular lessons at Stargazer Farms. All CHA students will have the opportunity to do so in the future.
Since implementing school clubs at CHA in 2013, students have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of clubs including drama, gardening, mechanical, STEM, art, school spirit, and more.
Clubs meet bi-weekly for the last hour of the school day.
